Suicide Prevention and Emergency Mental Health Support

If you or someone else is in immediate danger, call 911 or go to the nearest emergency room. If there has been a suicide attempt, overdose, or serious injury, call 911 immediately.

You deserve support, especially when things feel overwhelming. Whether you are experiencing thoughts of suicide, emotional distress, or concern for someone you love, you do not have to face this moment alone.

While You Connect With Help

  • Reach out to someone you trust. You can say, “I’m having a hard time, and I need someone to stay with me.”

  • Move to a safer place. Put distance between yourself and anything you could use to hurt yourself. Ask a trusted person to help secure those items safely.

  • Stay connected. If you are worried you might act on suicidal thoughts, ask someone to remain with you while you contact crisis support. If you cannot stay safe, call 911.

You do not need to find the perfect words. Start with what you are feeling right now.

Worried About Someone Else?

Ask directly and calmly: “Are you thinking about suicide?” Listen without judgment, take their concerns seriously, and help them connect with support. You can call or text 988 for guidance about helping someone else.

If there is immediate danger, call 911 and stay with the person if it is safe to do so.
